Where you Foster and Adopt from MATTERS

Fostering or adopting from municipal shelters helps create space for other animals that need to come in from the streets and finders. While many responsible Austin-area rescues pull from local shelters and need fosters and adopters too, some rescues focus solely on importing animals from distant areas into our local area, which strains local resources and contributes to pet overcrowding. Before choosing a rescue, ask if they support Austin’s animals, as organizations that don’t help local animals may worsen shelter capacity issues and increase taxpayer costs. Be thoughtful and ask questions to ensure you’re supporting efforts that help local animals. [Contact us for guidance]
